About this trek
The Langtang Valley Trek offers a scenic journey through a high Himalayan valley shaped by glaciers, forests, and rich Tamang culture. The trail follows the Langtang River, gradually rising from subtropical forest into an open alpine landscape surrounded by snow-covered peaks. Along the way, you pass through rebuilt Langtang Village and continue toward Kyanjin Gompa, a traditional settlement framed by dramatic mountain scenery and home to a small monastery and yak cheese production.
From Kyanjin Gompa, a steep but rewarding hike to Cherko Ri provides exceptional panoramic views over the Langtang range and into Tibet—one of the highlights of the trek. The return route retraces the valley, offering a pleasant descent back to Syabrubesi. With a mix of moderate walking, cultural encounters, and impressive high-altitude viewpoints, this 7-day trek is a strong option for trekkers seeking a classic Himalayan experience close to Kathmandu.
Want to extend the Langtang Valley trek?
If you feel like adding more, you can extend this trek! Think of for example:
- You can combine this trek with the Gosaikunda Lake - Laurebina Pass trek.
- Spend an extra day in Kyanjin to rest, acclimatize, and exploring the glacier.
If you would like this, you can contact me to discuss the options. I’m most willing to help you make the right choice!
