About this trek
The Kapuche Glacier Lake Trek is a short yet adventurous journey to Nepal’s lowest-altitude glacier lake, set beneath the views of Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II. Reaching Kapuche Lake provides a striking reward, with its calm turquoise waters fed by glaciers towering directly above. This 5-day trek is ideal for trekkers seeking something less travelled, with impressive scenery and a moderate challenge close to Pokhara.
Shorter option (3 days total)
If you’re short on time:
- Day 1: Drive Pokhara → Sikles → Trek to Hugu Goth
- Day 2: Hugu Goth → Kapuche Lake → Return to Sikles
- Day 3: Drive back to Pokhara
Itinerary
Pokhara → Sikles Village (1,980m)
The first day will be spent driving from Pokhara via Bhujung or Taprang by jeep and local bus. It's a scenic drive through Modi Khola valley:
Sikles → Hugu Goth (2,100m)
Gradual uphill and forest trail with views of Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal. Hugu Goth is a small shepherd settlement.
Hugu Goth → Kapuche Glacier Lake (2,540m) → Hugu Goth
Early start to reach Kapuche Lake, the lowest-altitude glacier lake in Nepal!
Hugu Goth → Sikles
Descend the same trail, enjoying the moutain views along the way.
Sikles → Pokhara
Arrive in Pokhara in the afternoon; rest or explore the beautiful lakeside.
